What is happening in Victoria's food scene this week?

Plus, local breweries win big awards, new Hawaiian restaurant, and gala dinner for wildfire relief

Good morning foodies!

This week we are bringing you a round up of the local breweries that took home prizes at the BC Beer Awards as well as a look into a new Hawaiian restaurant that is opening up downtown.

Speaking of beer, what sort of brews do you enjoy? I know that I can be easily convinced to order any form of dark beer, be it a stout or a porter.

Ramen Arashi: Grab a delicious bowl of ramen, its tonkotsu is especially tasty, at 2950 Douglas.

The Hot & Cold Cafe: The Cook Street joint is the perfect spot to grab a sandwich on homemade focaccia. 

Bartholomew's Pub: Get cozy during this rainy weather with some classic pub food and happy hour gin and tonics at 777 Douglas St.

Greater Victoria breweries win big at BC Beer Awards

South Island craft beers are continuing to showcase just how delicious and unique they are. This was proven at this year’s BC Beer Awards where nine Greater Victoria breweries took home wins, including some of the highest honours. 

This follows seven summertime wins at the Canadian Brewing Awards from local breweries, and 12 wins last year at the BC Beer Awards.

Victoria is getting a brand new spot for Hawaiian food

Kahuna will serve up burgers, poke bowls, pies, and Mai Tai cocktails from its new location on Chatham. 

The restaurant is the brainchild of Ajay Oppelaar and Robert Stutzman, owners of the popular Hawaiian-themed Kahuna Burger and Aloha Bowls in Duncan. Victoria’s Kahuna will be a fusion of these two restaurants.
