10 Victoria restaurants serving turkey dinner this year

It might not feel like autumn, but the beers are getting darker and the city is getting sleepier. Also, Thanksgiving is just around the corner: a time to rejoice on the summer’s past and slow down with your family and friends.

If this is all coming as surprise to you—you’re not alone.

While some people spend weeks getting ready to fill their bellies and boots full of turkey, others are simply too busy to remember that Christmas is coming around the corner too.

Luckily, Victoria restaurants have got you covered this Thanksgiving.

Here are 10 of our favourite restaurants that’ll take a load off the cooking for you.

Q at the Empress

Enjoy a decadent three-course Thanksgiving dinner from the Q at the Empress.

Start off with a savoury French soup—a parsnip and vanilla veloute with poached pear, brioche crouton, and chive oil—and let that set the table for the main course: a Fraser Valley turkey breast and leg stuffed with dried fruit and sage. On the side? Whipped Yukon gold potatoes, roasted vegetables, gravy, and cranberry sauce. Then, top it off with a maple pumpkin pie with a classic spiced pumpkin custard, maple marshmallow meringue, and cranberry confit.

This elegant dinner is available on Sunday Oct. 9 and 10 and is $85/person plus taxes and gratuities. To book your reservation, call 250-389-2727 or email emp.diningres@fairmont.com

Haus Sausage Company

Feed the whole family with this full course dinner. No need for debate either, since Haus Sausage Company is giving you both a maple rosemary brined turkey roll and hickory smoked ham. On the side, you’ll get an herb and apricot stuffing with garlic mashed potato and charred brussels sprout salad. For sauces, you get the classics: gravy, mustard, and a sour cherry cranberry sauce. Dessert will feature a surprise guest from GoodSide Bakery. Our guess? The pumpkin mousse.

Pickup is on Sunday, Oct. 9 between 1-4pm, and is $200 per meal.

Roast Meat & Sandwich Shop

Roast Meat & Sandwich Shop is roasting up turkeys, porchetta, roast beef and rotisserie chickens, plus all the side fixings like stuffing and veggies. Meals are available for pickup on both Saturday, Oct. 8 and Sunday, Oct. 9.

Reserve yours: maryanne@roastsandwichshop.com

The Courtney Room

This three-course Thanksgiving meal from the Courtney Room gives you all the creature comforts you need on turkey day.

Start with Working Culture’s delectable bread and enjoy your choice of three starters—a radicchio and roasted squash salad (gluten free and vegan), an apple and marmalade porchetta, or a blood orange, pumpkin seed, and scallop escabeche (like a gazpacho or cold soup).

Save room for the main course with either a classic roasted turkey dinner with bacon stuffing, pomme puree (mashed potatoes with heavy cream), and butternip parsnip. If you’re not fond of turkey this year, try one of three other options: a gluten-free charcoal steelhead with a potato and dandelion salad, a vegan squash pasta agnolotti, or a beef tenderloin with duck fat rosti, carrots and pickled mushroom.

To close it off, choose between two desserts: the spiced gateau—a squash and pecan layer cake—or a pear baba—a sweet enriched dough, soaked in rum with vanilla bean cream.

$90 per person. Reserve a table and dine in style on either Saturday, Oct. 8 or Sunday, Oct. 9.

10 Acres

Dine in or take home this farm-to-table Thanksgiving dinner from 10 Acres. To start, choose between squash soup, caesar salad, or roasted cold beets. Then move on to the main course and get the classics: a 10 Acres farm free range roast turkey with brussels sprouts and parsnips. Pair that with turkey stuffing, mashed potatoes, and yam purée and drizzle it with gravy or cranberry sauce. For dessert, you’ve got four options: a pumpkin spiced cheesecake, tiramisu, and ice cream or sorbet with a cookie.

All this for under $60!

Book your table here or order take-home here and sit down or take home it on Sunday, Oct. 9 or Monday, Oct. 10 between 5-10pm.

The Snug Pub at Oak Bay Beach Hotel

Walk in and enjoy the Snug Pub’s full turkey dinner with a traditional roast turkey, sage and sausage stuffing, whipped potatoes and roasted vegetables. Drizzle a thyme gravy over the plate to bring it all home then satisfy your sweet tooth with a pumpkin tiramisu with dark chocolate, mascarpone, and fall spices.

The Snug operates on a first come, first serve basis and does not take reservations.

Available Oct. 9 and Oct. 10 from 5pm ‘til close. $55/per person.

Fireside Grill

Simple, easy, and delicious: Fireside is offering a simply amazing three-course pairing for this Thanksgiving weekend.

Start with a bacon and butternut squash soup with added maple syrup and cream. The main course is a classic: roasted turkey with sundried tomato, cranberry, and sage stuffing. The plate rounds out with garlic mashed potatoes, brussels sprouts, and roasted vegetables. To end, expect the best: a pumpkin pie with cream.

All this for $50, available for dine-in on Oct. 9 and 10 after 4pm.

The Arbutus Room at Brentwood Bay Resort

You can have turkey in a few different ways, like a turkey roulade: a stuffed turkey roll. At the Arbutus Room it’s filled with lemon, herb, and a cranberry orange chutney.

This Thanksgiving, you can order the turkey roulade with apple and sage stuffing, herb roasted baby carrots, brussels sprouts, and herb and sweet potato mash. To start, choose a carrot ginger soup or harvest salad. For dessert, indulge and enjoy an apple crumble or pumpkin pie.

Dine-in either Sunday, Oct. 10 or Monday, Oct. 11 between 5-9pm. Check out the menu here.

Orders are open for Saveur’s take-home Thanksgiving dinner

Enjoy a brined and roasted turkey breast and leg with brioche stuffing, and a squash and chanterelle mushroom casserole. Get your greens in with caramelized root vegetables.

Share a Fox & Monocle Bakery pumpkin pie for an extra $18. The family meal comes cold, but fully-cooked and ready for you to warm up at home. Instructions included on purchase.

$68 per person, minimum order of two. Pickup will be on Sunday, Oct. 9, between 2-4pm. To order, email info@saveurrestaurant.ca, text 250-516-9372, or call 250-590-9251 before Oct. 9.

Hotel Grand Pacific

Whether it’s brunch, dinner, or dessert, head to James Bay and whisk yourself away at the Hotel Grand Pacific throughout the weekend for a Thanksgiving celebration.

For brunch, enjoy a turkey and wild boar bacon hash with cranberry hollandaise sauce for $22. At dinner, choose between a classic turkey dinner featuring an apple cider brined turkey breast and leg with wild boar bacon stuffing, roasted root vegetables, and mashed potatoes; or, a classic beef wellington with mushroom and prosciutto. For dessert, fill up on a sweet pumpkin cheesecake.

Walk in or make a reservation. Brunch offered between 7am-1pm; dinner offered between 4-9:30pm from Oct. 8-10.
