There’s such a vast array of Indian culture in Canada, despite the country being so far away. Many world religions have roots in India, like Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism, and Sikhism and are practiced by a large number of people in Canada. Plus, every fall it’s quite easy to spot the big, bright, and colourful Diwali celebrations, also known as “Festival of Lights.”

Of course, one of our favourite ways to enjoy Indian culture is through food and there’s no shortage of fantastic Indian restaurants in the city.

Sizzling Tandoor

Sizzling Tandoor has won over readers with its authentic family recipes and all-natural ingredients. This family-run restaurant has been committed to preserving the culture and traditions of the East ever since head chef Narpinder Bawa and her husband Gurinder decided to open their first restaurant in 2010. Since then, they have opened two additional locations in the bustling Uptown Shopping Centre and Westshore Town Centre.

Royal Spice

Royal Spice has a big selection for Indian food lovers. It strives to provide an Indian dining experience that is unmatched. Most famous for its authentic curry, tandoori dishes, and freshly baked breads, there are also plenty of rice dishes and the usual range of side dishes like raita and chutney.

Dosa Paragon

Opened in 2019, this restaurant specializes in South Indian cuisine and is located in the heart of Downtown Victoria. The husband-wife duo, Bob Unnikrishnan and Lathika Prasanth, offer a world of vibrant colours and healthy food with a blend of house style cooking and exotic aromas of the flavours of South India.
