With December officially here, restaurants across Victoria and beyond are starting to release details for their special New Year’s Eve celebrations. Some are ticketed events, some have one or two seatings that must be reserved ahead of time. All of them include delicious meals with wine pairings and more to ring in 2025. Here are five that have caught our eye so far.
Close out 2024 with an eight-course chef’s tasting menu at The Courtney Room. Start with oysters, foie gras, and salmon crudo, then indulge in butter roasted BC sablefish, Fraser Valley duck confit tart, and peace country lamb crepinette. The final two courses are a cheese course featuring compte toast and a chocolate cremeux to top it all off. The dinner takes place Dec. 31 from 5pm to 8:30pm and is $165 per person. The restaurant is taking reservations now.
Over at Bray’s, diners will enjoy a special six-course dinner that kicks off with oysters, scallop crudo and torched sockeye salmon. Next up is Brome Lake duck breast and beef tenderloin, and then earl grey tiramisu for dessert. The dinner costs $100 per person and there is an optional $60 wine pairing. Reservations are now open, but spots are limited.
If you’re planning to ring in the new year in the Westshore, Wild Mountain Dinners in Sooke is the place to do it. New Year’s Eve is one of the few nights that the restaurant offers a chef’s tasting menu experience. The menu encompasses six courses and there are two seatings available, 5pm and 7:30pm. Each dinner kicks off with snacks such as duck prosciutto, savoury corn and potato donut, and poached kushi oyster. Next is sablefish with potato noodles and lobster mushroom ravioli. The entree is braised grass fed beef rib, followed by green apple sorbet. The finishing touch features the final vintage of the chef’s parents’ honey. The dinner menu costs $125 per person, and wine pairings are $60. Reservations can be made now.
Zambri’s will be offering both its regular menu and a special feature menu just for New Year’s Eve, along with plenty of prosecco. Details of the special feature menu have not yet been released, but reservations can be made at OpenTable.
Another dinner that has been announced without any details just yet is the New Year’s Eve dinner at Part and Parcel. The restaurant dropped the announcement on its Instagram yesterday about this ticketed event. To be the first to know details, sign up for the restaurant’s newsletter.
