Pluvio Restaurant (Instagram)
Heading for an island excursion to the true West Coast? Most people are familiar with the world famous town of Tofino with its legendary west coast surf and beaches together with Pacific Rim National Park, but the little sister District of Ucluelet has been making its own mark as a standout destination just 20 minutes South of the surf mecca. We visited some of Ucluelet’s new restaurants and old favourites to help you make the most out of your next mid-island west coast trip.
Abbondanza Pizza
Make sure to place your order early at this cash only establishment. This family owned restaurant specializes in wood fired pizzas with sourdough crusts that are a must try according to any local. We recommend you give the classic Margherita or for something a bit different, their meatball pie.
1972 Peninsula Road, Ucluelet, BC4:30 – 10pm Fri – Tue, 11:30am – 5pm Wed, Closed Thu@abbondanzapizza
Pluvio Restaurant
If you want a unique and elevated dining experience, look no further than Pluvio and their two tasting menu options. With stunning plates and carefully curated cocktails, it’s no wonder that this restaurant is topping the charts for their innovative menu. Depending on your level of hunger, or how much time you have to dine, you can opt for their three or five course tasting menu. They even have a special, and equally beautiful, tasting menu for kids!

Ucluelet Brewing Co
Isn’t it an unwritten rule that all small towns with great dining MUST have an equally great brewery? In addition to their tasty brews, this brewery is known for their lovely harbour views from the patio views from this historic repurposed church. We recommend trying one of their IPAs or going for a flight. If you are hungry, they also offer some tasty snacks and pub style fare.

The Foggy Bean Coffee
Located in the same building as the brewery, make sure to get your caffeine fix at the Foggy Bean. This takeout-style coffee bar is a big hit with tourists and locals alike. Although there are many great options for coffee and cafes in Ucluelet, this is the place where you can buy some beans to bring home with you to reminisce about your undoubtedly amazing coastal holiday.

Heartwood Kitchen
This quaint restaurant located in the historic yellow Glendale house packs a punch for service and taste both day and night. You might have to make two visits here to test out the brunch and dinner to embrace the full Ukee experience. If you are going for brunch, you must order the UFC (Ukee Fried Chicken) which has a bit of heat and a lot of flavour.

Currents Restaurant
This restaurant, located at the Black Rock Resort, definitely has the best West Coast views you can find in Ucluelet. We recommend going for dinner and trying out some of their fresh seafood options like their Chowder, or market fresh Catch and Raw dishes.

Zoe’s Bakery
Lastly, alphabetically speaking, to round out our top spots to visit in Ucluelet, you definitely need to make a stop at Zoe’s. This is the perfect place to grab a coffee and a breakfast item as you make your way to the beach, or head out of town to your next adventure. You may be in line for a while, so we recommend grabbing a few items all at once so you don’t end up with food envy.
