Celebrate Cinco de Mayo at Home
Cinco de Mayo Celebrations are just around the corner! Since part of the Tasting Victoria team is originally from Mexico, we couldn’t help but share with you some local options, a guacamole recipe and a mexican playlist to celebrate Cinco de Mayo at home!
Cinco de Mayo celebrates the 1862 Mexican army’s victory over the French. It is a holiday that now people across the world celebrate. Typically, we would spend the day eating at Mexican restaurants, drinking margaritas and throwing parties! but, in these uncertain times, we will be celebrating at home.
Luckily, there are a few local Mexican-owned businesses that offer take-out and delivery these days, and we can have our own fiesta at home to celebrate.
Here are a few local options in Victoria offering Mexican food you can order up for pick-up and delivery to have your at-home Cinco de Mayo celebration this Tuesday, May 5:
La Taqueria
Open for take-out and delivery. They recently launched their Cyber Taco Shop where you can order meal kits for 2 and 4 people with a variety of meat selection and veggie options, add-ons and beer or tequila to make margaritas at home!
For this celebration, they are offering 20% off in all La Taqueria meals, ordering online using code CINCO2020. This offer is valid from now til May 4th, 2020.
On May 5th, they will be having 20% off all take-out food orders and margaritas!

Food on the Run
This family business makes delicious authentic corn tortillas (original, jalapeño and chipotle) and tamales! You can order their products online for delivery.
Ferri’s Grill
Not a Mexican restaurant, but Ferri’s Grill launched their Grocery online shop last month and they included Meal Kits of different cuisines. We ordered the ‘Dinner in Guadalajara’ Meal Kit and we loved it!
I lived in Guadalajara for years and can say these tacos are really good! Very close to what they offer in Mexico. It serves 3-4 people and includes pork carnitas, tortillas, ancho chili adobo, pico de gallo salsa and more. Plus, they have a Lavender Paloma Cocktail mix in their online store! I’m sure you’ll love it.

Guacamole Recipe
My sister’s guacamole is one of the best we’ve tried and she shared her famous recipe with us. Authentic guacamole is simple. It doesn’t need a lot of ingredients. This recipe is very easy and delicious!
Ingredients
2 ripe avocados
1 tomato
1 white onion
2 small limes
sea salt
ground pepper
tortilla chips
jalapeño (optional)
Directions
Cut the avocados in half, remove pit, peel and scoop them in a medium bowl.
Use a fork to gently mash the avocados, not too much, since we are mixing it with the rest of the ingredients after.
Dice 1/2 tomato and add to the bowl.
Dice 1/4 onion and add to bowl.
Add 1/2 tsp sea salt.
Add 1/8 tsp ground pepper.
Squeeze 2 limes.
Stir all the ingredients together to combine.
If you’d like to make it a little spicy, add half or 1 diced jalapeño.
Enjoy with tortilla chips!
