Celebrating local fishermen and incredible access to quality seafood, the Vancouver Island CrabFest is coming to Victoria next weekend and we can’t wait to get our hands on a bucket.

Local Dungeness crab, corn, potatoes, clams, prawns, fresh bread and butter are all served in personal-sized buckets at Victoria’s Banfield Park next Saturday from 12pm to 7pm, along with a selection of beverages (both alcoholic and zero-proof) from local breweries and vineyards to fully complete the foodie experience.

Admission to the 2024 CrabFest is free, with an option to purchase and reserve a crab bucket ahead of the event to simply pick up on arrival. While crab bucket sales will also be available on the event, it’s important to note that they are very limited in quantity and are available only until supplies last (so be sure to get your bucket in advance to avoid any disappointment day-of).

“We’re expecting a crowd of 2,000 attendees—double the size of last year’s event—so mark your calendars and don’t miss out on this fantastic community gathering,” Vancouver Island CrabFest wrote in an Instagram post.

“Dive into deliciousness as we launch our bucket sales—freshly caught local Dungeness crab awaits!”

Along with delicious seafood, expect live music and performances and a fully-equipped Kids Zone, allowing guests of all ages to participate in this year’s festivities.

Not into seafood? Keep your eyes peeled for other street vendors participating in the event this year, from hot dogs and ice cream to a decked-out beverage garden with local favourites like Driftwood Brewery.

All proceeds from the 2024 Vancouver Island CrabFest will go to the Vic West Community Centre and Reciprocity Connect, helping to support both organization’s programs and initiatives.
