Great Canadian Beer Festival takes over Royal Athletic Park this weekend

One of the countryās oldest craft beer festivals returns to Royal Athletic Park this weekend in celebration of 29 years of Canadian craft beer.
The Great Canadian Beer Festival, organized by the Victoria Beer Society, will feature close to 100 craft breweries and cideries from across the country.
The two-day event on Friday, Sept. 8, from 4 to 9pm, and Saturday, Sept. 9, from noon to 5pm, typically serves over 250 beers and ciders to patrons each year. Following that, the festival will tour across Interior BC.

Esquimalt Ribfest celebrates 10 years of bibs and ribs at Bullen Park

Ribfest is gearing up for its 10th anniversary at Bullen Park this weekend, and itās sure to be a fun-filled event.
Partnering together, the Esquimalt Firefighters Charitable Foundation, the Esquimalt Ribfest Society, and seven local non-profit groups host the charitable event each year, raising over $1 million for local charities in the past decade.
With six big-rig BBQ companies, eight local breweries, 20 local bands, and 20 local vendors, this yearās event is as bigger and better than ever.

Missing Linkās Inaugural hot dog eating contest: Next Saturday, Sept. 16, at 3pm, Missing Link is hosting its first ever hot dog eating contest with live music and other fun at 3925 Quadra St. Tickets range in price for beginner competitors, competitive eaters, or general admission.
Victoria International Wine Festival: From Sept. 24 to 30 at the Victoria Conference Centre, get schooled on and indulge in the finest wines the world has to offer. Tickets range in price from $50 for seminar access-only, or $150 for a wine dinner.
Ile Sauvage celebrates 5-year anniversary: On Saturday, Sept. 23, celebrate Victoriaās finest purveyors of sour beers, with beer releases, live music, and lawn games. First 100 people get a commemorative glass. Entry is free.
Colwood hot sauce competition on Sept. 23: About 30 competitors will see who can temper their mouths after eating hot sauce, hot wings, and hot peppers in this charitable event on Saturday, Sept. 23. Entry by donation.
