First Look: Bear and Joey Café

Bear and Joey brings a unique Australian inspired concept to Victoria.

Bear and Joey Cafe is officially open and we couldn’t be more excited. Ever since we started following them on Instagram, before opening, knew something different was going to happen in town and be a total success.

I fell in love with Bear and Joey’s branding, design and the whole concept. The first Australian inspired cafe in Victoria, BC. Located in the Abstract Developments Black & White Building at 1025 Cook Street.

Australian Chef Tait Bourke has developed a colourful & nutritious menu, with cleaver use of local ingredients, catering to several dietary movements. This honest yet interesting menu is teamed up with imported Australian-roasted coffee, which is really fantastic!

The space is unique to Victoria, with interior design & branding created by Meade Design Group. The 2500 sq. ft. space is youthful and vibrant, warm & tranquil with “le Nouveau art deco” influence. Soft green, light pink, gold accents and plants make the café beautiful. I am definitely obsessed with the pretty space, very Instagrammable!

And how adorable are the custom to-go cups?

The team is awesome! They are super friendly and kind.

Currently open for take-out with a limited to-go menu. We look forward to dining in that beautiful space. They have a big beautiful patio as well. Currently open Everyday 9 am – 3 pm, except Tuesdays. Opening for dine in late June.

We enjoyed a flat white, chai latte, breakfast sandwiches made with beetroot brioche from Crust Bakery, which is coloured pink! Lovely and Delicious!

We tried their vegan carrot cake and a chocolate chip cookie, really good and unique. Their menu features local products such as Westholme Tea and Fatso Peanut Butter.
