Get your Valentine’s Day chocolates from these five local spots

Christmas is long gone, post-holiday diets all but forgotten, but just around the corner is the romantic holiday synonymous with chocolate. That’s right, we’re talking about Valentine’s Day, and we are here to help find the perfect local selection of chocolates for your love interest, your platonic pal, your work colleagues, or yourself—because frankly, we could all use a little treat! We have put together a list of six places to purchase locally handcrafted chocolates.

Located in Saanichton, Rock Coast is a confectionery that produces locally made chocolates, baked goods, and gift boxes. You may have seen their wholesale toffee bark in your local grocery store, but they also have a whole storefront with a variety of individual chocolates, chocolate bars, chocolate-dipped fruit, and even ice cream cakes! Get your Valentine one of their adorable chocolate hearts #ftw

107-1753 Sean Heights, SaanichtonMonday to Saturday: 10am – 5pmrockcoast.ca@rockcoast

This local chocolatier produces vegan, organic, fair-trade chocolates that are all gluten, soy, and preservative-free. Peruse their website for a list of all their Valentine’s Day features, including hand-painted chocolate roses and heart-shaped chocolate assortments.

102-3 Fan Tan Alley, VictoriaMonday to Sunday: 11am – 5pmpurelovinchocolate.com@purelovinchocolate

If you want the best bang for your local buck, you must visit Chocolat & Co. on Fort Street. This chocolate collective includes products from three of the city’s finest chocolatiers: The Chocolate Project, Terrible Truffles, and Uncouth Chocolate. You will experience a wide array of products here including bean-to-bar chocolate bars, chocolate truffles, and drinking chocolate options. Give your Valentine something that showcases each of these local chocolatiers for a surefire way to earn some brownie points.

703 Fort Street, VictoriaMonday to Saturday: 10am – 5:30pmchocolatandco.com@chocolat.and.co

This local collab between Singing Bowl Granola and Sweetly Raw is another great option to share some local love with your favourite Valentine. We definitely recommend that you treat yourself, or someone else (no judgment!), with both of their offerings: caramel crunchers and peanut butter crunch bars. Shop online, or head to their “where to find us” section on their website to find out where to buy around town.

If your sweetie is all about legacy and brand recognition (as well as delicious chocolates—obvs), then Rogers’ Chocolates is a guaranteed win. With a brand that has been around Victoria since 1885, it’s no secret that these chocolates are a timeless choice. Shop their Valentine’s selection online or in person at one of their multiple locations across Greater Victoria. We recommend one of their heart-shaped creams boxes!
