Victoria just got a new 8-seater omakase bar
And it looks just as awesome as it sounds
Picture this: a full omakase experience at a fraction of the regular price point, enjoyed at a quaint counter overlooking the experienced sushi chef making your meal right in front of your eyes.
Chobap Sushi Bar is a newly opened omakase restaurant on Courtney Street in Victoria that is home to exactly that, offering a one-of-a-kind dinner experience that visitors are sure to come back to again and again.
Operated and run by Chef Clark, a highly-esteemed chef with previous experience working at reputable places like Miku, Yua Bistro and Marilena Cafe, the menu is defined by his mastered blend of traditional Japanese flavours with modern cooking techniques that use fresh, seasonal ingredients to take guests on a rich culinary journey.
Guests have the option of several different omakase tasting experiences—the “Edition Omakase” offered at $75 for eight courses, the “Harmony Omakase” offered at $80 for eight courses and sake pairings, and the “Elegant Chef’s Collection” offered at $120 for 10-12 courses—offered at a fraction of the price point of other popular omakase restaurants in the city.
“Everyone can enjoy omakase at a reasonable price, with uni and caviar included for an even more special experience,” Chobap Sushi Bar wrote on its Instagram page.
“I'm excited to embark on this new chapter and share the stories of food and community with all of you,” wrote Chef Clark in an Instagram post.
Omakase is translated to “I’ll leave it up to you” in Japanese, which means that the menu here frequently changes depending on Chef Clark’s mood and access to fresh seafood that day. Some notable bites include wagyu nigiri, sweet shrimp with uni and caviar and a warm, soothing barley tea served at the start of each meal to aid digestion.
Though walk-ins are welcome, reservations are highly recommended to avoid disappointment at Chobap due to the size of the space. If you’re interested in making a reservation, visit the website or call the restaurant directly to inquire about future availability.
