Howe Sound Brewing

Celebrating their 25th anniversary this year, Howe Sound Brewing is a Squamish institution. If you are travelling from Vancouver Island this establishment operates as an Inn as well as a restaurant, so if you choose to stay here it will be an easy respite after your journey. With a long line-up of core, seasonal, and special release beers, we recommend a flight to find your favourite.

Flipside Burgers & Cliffside Cider

Yes, we know these are two different establishments, but since they have cozied up as neighbours and partnered up with names that suit each other perfectly, we are showcasing them jointly. This juicy burger joint opened by the Oldenburgers (yes, that is their last name) in 2020 has quickly become a local favourite. Cliffside is not your standard cider joint. Although they produce pure apple cider, they also create blends with ingredients like pineapple and ginger. If you want to skip the flight this round, we recommend trying one of their cider cocktails like their Nate Margarita.

Sunflower Bakery

Who doesn’t love doughnuts? No seriously, tell us and we will go to their house with a delivery of Sunflower Bakery’s sweet morsels to change their tune. This local hot spot is a go-to coffee and pastry mecca with fun flavours and inviting staff. It is also one of the only places that is open daily and relatively early (8am) so you can grab some fuel pre-hike. You can’t go wrong with The Chief, their version of an apple fritter.

Fox & Oak

Speaking of doughnuts… you might as well pop over to this clean and fresh cafe to do a little market research comparison. This perfectly instagrammable cafe opened in the fall of 2020 and their coffee concept is to showcase various coffee wholesalers bringing you a “coffee craft” experience. Their floor-to-ceiling windows, clean white decor, and photo-worthy doughnuts will have you both swooning and drooling.

The Copper Coil

This eclectic joint is part Bourbon Street, part Football stadium, and all upside. Although they have all sorts of burgers and smoked meat barbeque offerings, we were really impressed with their healthy, lighter salads and bowls. Whether you are here for the pulled pork mac and cheese or a blackened salad, you will get your fill of comfort food and protein.

Fergies Cafe

Feel like working off your meal? Why not bike to this majestic picnic location about 15km outside of town. Specializing in brunch with house-smoked meats, this riverside cafe offers the perfect opportunity for you to get your food and fitness fix. If you want to keep the vibe West Coast, we recommend their salmon benny which comes accompanied by their smash-worthy fried potatoes. This place is known for their line-ups, so get there early if you don’t want to miss out!

The Watershed Grill

You can’t beat the scenic waterfront view at The Watershed. Located a few minutes north of downtown, this spot is scenic and laid back; the perfect place to have a sip and a snack post hike/climb/bike… mid-day nap? You really can’t go wrong with their Shed Caesar which is both a drink and a meal.

The Salted Vine

There is no better place to get a cocktail than The Salted Vine. Each of their original cocktails are named after local biking and climbing routes, so even if you’re not a biker or a climber, you can experience the essence adventuring through spirit (wink). We recommend their Cedar Sour with cedar-infused rye, Chartreuse, lemon, apple shrub, maple syrup, egg white, and whiskey bitters.
