Victoria cocktail bar ranked on Canada’s 50 Best Bars

Canada’s Best 100 Restaurants and 50 Best Bars just released their rankings for 2022 and a victoria bar is among Canada’s Best Bars. Clive’s Classic Lounge, Canada’s longest-standing cocktail bar, is a moody, cozy and subtly glam room tucked behind Chateau Victoria Hotel’s staid façade.

Clive’s is where the ever-inventive Shawn Soole began Victoria’s cocktail revolution. And now it’s where he’s returned, to serve ambitious drinks with flavours that travel the world. 

“I can’t tell you the pride I have for what our little hotel bar has done over the years. Being back in this space, with the team we’ve built has been amazing beyond belief” said Soole in his Instagram post. “We don’t do things for awards, but when you are in a small market like Victoria, this validates the long days, the stressed and busy evenings and the sacrifices the whole team make to achieve what we believe is running one of the best cocktail bars in the country and this little picture proves it. Thank you to my team, the Chateau Hotel for the support and to our loyal and amazing guests for everything.”

Since 2008, Clive’s has served high-quality drinks and food located in Chateau Victoria on Burdett Avenue. The bar team carries on founder and owner Clive Piercy’s legacy by continuing to offer drinks inspired by international travel and BC itself. Any customer can enjoy Clive’s experience from its seasonally changing cocktails, unique creations, and reinventions of classics. Through their motto that bartending is a passion rather than a profession, it is evident why these creative, imaginative drinks give an experience ranked one of Canada’s best. 

Clive’s is open every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 5 pm -11 pm, and Friday and Saturday from 5 pm – 12 am.
