7 summer menus we've already set our eyes on

Featuring tangy spritzes, fresh tomatoes and cold desserts to beat the heat

As we inch closer to the official start of summer, it’s no surprise that we’re already scouting out the latest seasonal menus across Victoria.

Here are a few beloved restaurants in and around the city that have added brand new items on their menus in celebration of warmer days ahead, available exclusively for this coming summer.

Located right on Victoria’s Inner Harbour, LURE Restaurant offers stunning views along with a long list of unique menus that cover breakfast, lunch, dinner, happy hour and late night eats. This summer, they’ve unveiled a brand new lunch menu with fresh items like watermelon poke, coconut curry mussels and strawberry tarts. Get the full list of items here.

You may be familiar with The Butchart Gardens for their gorgeous display of flowers, a must-see oasis over 100 years in the making that transports its visitors outside of the city and straight into nature. Book a visit, and be sure to visit their dining room—not only will you get dazzling views of the gardens, you’ll also get to try their latest summer dinner menu offered from June 14 to September 1.

If you’re looking to celebrate a special occasion (or are simply on the hunt for a knockout meal) a visit to The Courtney Room, arguably one of the best restaurants on the Island, is well worth the visit. Their chef’s seasonal tasting menu currently offers flavour bombs like tomato negroni, oysters with rose hip and trout roe and ling cod in a butternut squash curry veloute.

The menu is constantly changing at this rustic Italian eatery, “as often as [they] get [their] next vegetable delivery” from their favourite farmers. While you may come out with a favourite dinner item one day, it may not be on the menu on your next visit. Though they don’t have a separate summer menu, you can rest assured that every outing here will offer something new, celebrating the produce each season has to offer.

Moxies has officially released eight new summer menu items across all of their locations in North America, including handhelds like their citrus habanero salmon sandwich, cold beverages like their grapefruit spritz and dessert (we saved the best for last): a churro ice cream sandwich. Browns has a lot of exciting new menu items listed under their “latest and greatest” section, adding to a diverse and popular menu beloved by many across the province. Summer offerings include tangy, refreshing drinks like a cucumber and mint gin tonic, mango spritz and a “fancy” tomato sandwich topped with havarti, arugula and pesto aioli.

Known to be one of Victoria’s most innovative and unique dining experiences, Ugly Duckling promises a menu that constantly changes with the seasons, the farmers and “the whims of the culinary team”. This summer, they’ve opened a brand new pop-up at their location that will maximize on the joys of street food and the wonderful seasonal goods summer has to offer.
