Where to find late night eats in Victoria

Compared to large Canadian cities like Vancouver, Montreal, and Toronto, Victoria is not necessarily famous for its late night dining. However, despite that reputation—or rather lack of—Victoria does have some gems that are open past midnight and serve delicious and comforting food to all those looking for a late night snack. 

Here at Tasting Victoria, we have compiled a selection of some great spots to find food late at night and into the early morning. From pizzas and poutine to curries and hot dogs, these are the tasty dishes that can be found after many have gone to bed. 

Birdman

After 11pm everyday Wind Cries Mary becomes pop-up chicken sandwich joint, Birdman. Open until 1am, the pop-up offers the tried-and-true deliciousness that Wind Cries Mary is known for, but presented in more casual fare. The star of Birdman’s menu is its crispy fried chicken which is available either on its own or in a selection of sandwiches. Casual sides like mac and cheese and slaw are available for those seeking lighter fare. Birdman is also available for take-out everyday starting at 4pm.

Saint Franks

Saint Franks is the go-to spot for a late night hot dog. Piled high with toppings, these dogs come in a variety of offerings, including pierogi dogs, chili dogs, and banh mi dogs. Saint Franks also has vegetarian and gluten-free hot dogs available. Other notable late night snacks include tater tots and ice cream sandwiches. Enjoy your food alongside table top arcade games and craft beer. Saint Franks is open until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays, and until midnight on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

The Mint

The Mint is the perfect spot for a late night hangout while snacking on some tasty eats. Open until 2am, The Mint specializes in Himalayan cuisine. The restaurant cooks up a comforting menu featuring everything from curries and sticky rice to Tibetan momos and pakoras. It also has some more unique options like butter chicken poutine and naan pizza. The Mint hosts a variety of live shows, including music and comedy.

Fiamo

Fiamo specializes in traditional Italian and Mediterranean cooking. The restaurant is open until 2am on Sundays and until 1am during the rest of the week. It has a late night menu that is available after 10pm and which features wood-fired pizzas and smaller plates like arancini and brussels sprouts. Fiamo also serves up some gorgeous late night specialty coffees and desserts, including tiramisu and cheesecake.

Cenote

Cenote cooks up tasty comfort food late into the evening. The restaurant and lounge is open until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays and is open until midnight from Tuesday to Thursday. Its menu features flatbreads and salads alongside ultimate comfort foods like baked brie, bacon mac and cheese, and grilled cheese. Cenote also has daily drink specials like tequila Tuesdays and whisky Wednesdays.

Leopold’s Tavern

With a lively atmosphere late into the evening, Leopold's Tavern whips up the ultimate late night grub. The restaurant has classics like burgers, tacos, and wings as well as a selection of different poutines including a cheeseburger poutine and a buffalo chicken poutine. Its poutine is also available in a punchbowl to share with friends. Leopold’s Tavern is open until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays and until midnight during the rest of the week.

The Joint Pizzeria

A true late night eatery, The Joint Pizzeria is open until 3am. The perfect spot to grab a slice into the early morning, The Joint Pizzeria has a large selection of veggie and meat pizzas to choose from. Custom pizzas are also available, and the restaurant offers delivery until 3am. The Joint Pizzeria has vegetarian and gluten-free options available.
