The city's best restaurants with Westshore locations
We look at the Westshore winners in the 2024 Tasting Victoria Restaurant Awards
The 2024 Tasting Victoria Restaurant Awards are out, and across all 18 categories, there were quite a few winners from the Westshore. The list focuses on the best of the best mostly in Victoria itself, but winners are spread out across the CRD.
Five of the categories featured local institutions that have called Victoria home, and are now expanding west with second, third, or fourth locations. So for those who don’t live in the city or get downtown as often as they might like, good food is just around the corner. Here are the Westshore winners from the Tasting Victoria Awards.
Best Burger
Bin 4 took home first place in the best burger category. Locally owned and operated, Bin 4 Burger Lounge specializes in gourmet burgers, appetizers, fresh salads, hand-crafted cocktails, and local wine and beer. It opened its first location on Yates Street in 2011, and has now expanded to multiple locations across BC, including one in Langford.
Address: 102-716 Goldstream Ave.
Big Wheel Burger took home second place with its four locations across Greater Victoria, including one in Langford. When it comes to creative dishes, vegetarian-friendly options, and, of course, burgers, Big Wheel selects and sources locally, sustainably, and using environmentally friendly resources. At Big Wheel, the burgers are crafted with the best of intentions, so you can enjoy a guilt-free meal that has big flavours and originality to boot.
Address: 610-2945 Jacklin Rd.
Best Brunch
In third place in the best brunch category is Floyd’s Diner. This Victoria landmark opened its first location in 2004 and now has five locations to enjoy its classics, including one in Langford. Floyd’s is home to “The Mahoney”, a game where customers can gamble on paying the original price by flipping a coin for double or nothing on a mystery serving.
Address: 721 Station Ave.
Best Pizza
This pizzeria took home second place in the Tasting Victoria Awards. At 900 Degrees, you’ll find pizza that is not only cooked to perfection but is also piping hot with the cheesiest of cheeses and razor-thin artisan meats. 900 Degrees is a Neapolitan-style pizzeria that cooks in a traditional wood-fired oven exclusively with sustainably sourced wood, with a variety of pizza options and sauces to choose from. The popular pizza spot has one location in Sidney, and another in Langford.
Address: 2401 Millstream Rd.
In third place in the best pizza category is Romeo’s. The popular pizzeria was established in the summer of 1974, and now has three different locations in Greater Victoria and one in Duncan. The primary focus of the restaurant is creating signature pizzas and pasta from unique recipes, and techniques passed down to the family for generations.
Address: 2945 Jacklin Rd.
Best Mexican
In second place for the best Mexican category was local favourite Tacofino. Inspired by the bold flavours of surf destinations from across the world, Tacofino still supports local farmers and provides ethical meat and fish alongside all of its dishes. Great for dine-in and takeout, it’s our local West Coast staple and one of the top spots for Tasting Victoria readers. It has many locations now, including one in Langford.
Address: 112-800 Kelly Rd.
Best Indian
Taking home first place in the best Indian category is Sizzling Tandoor. Sizzling Tandoor has won over readers for the second time in a row for its authentic family recipes. This family-run restaurant has been committed to preserving the culture and traditions of the East ever since head chef Narpinder Bawa and her husband Gurinder decided to open their first restaurant in 2010. Since then, they have added a location in Westshore Town Centre, and another restaurant concept “Kinu” by Sizzling Tandoor at Uptown Shopping Centre.
Address: 129-2955 Phipps Rd.
