Best Mexican Restaurants 2023

Here's who readers voted as the best Mexican restaurants in the Tasting Victoria Restaurant Awards

Tacos, burritos, nachos, quesadillas, fajitas, street corn and more. There’s so many ways to enjoy Mexican food. The best part? You can enjoy it while either sitting on the curb of a street corner or sitting in a restaurant.

This year’s winners in the Tasting Victoria Restaurants Awards are a bit of both.

Tacofino

Going to Tacofino is like going to the beach—probably because that’s exactly how the restaurant started: in a Tofino beach parking lot. Inspired by the bold flavours of surf destinations from across the world, Tacofino still supports local farmers, and provides ethical meat and fish alongside all of its dishes. Great for dine-in and takeout, it’s our local West Coast staple, and top spot for Tasting Victoria readers.

Café Mexico

This Mexican Grill and Cantina is one of the largest Mezcal bars in Canada and its menu mixes both modern and traditional styles of Mexican cooking. When you walk in you’re immediately struck by the bold colours, brick walls, and rustic furnishing. Café Mexico is a sight for the eyes and an explosion of flavour.
