Vancouver Island is getting a gourmet harvest food festival next weekend

Eat, drink and learn more about local food purveyors in this one-of-a-kind annual event

The 23rd Annual Vancouver Island Feast of Fields is taking place next Sunday, Aug. 25 at Heritage Acres in Saanichton—passionate foodies that are curious about where their favourite ingredients come from, this one’s for you!

Putting emphasis on the connections between farmers and chefs, field and table and farm and city residents, Feast of Fields is a widely adored, three-hour wandering gourmet harvest festival that takes place every year near Victoria. Visitors stroll across a big field with a glass of wine and napkin in hand to explore the exciting offerings of some of the Island’s best chefs.

Some of the vendors scheduled to present in this year’s event include Whole Beast Meats, a purveyor of handcrafted cured meats in Victoria, Moon Brewery Distillery, a family-owned and operated brewery and distillery committed to using 100% locally grown grains in their beers and spirits, and many more.

Not just an opportunity to taste the gourmet creations of talented chefs, bakers, artisans, vintners, brewers, distillers and other beverage producers, Feast of Fields is also a welcoming hub that allows curious foodies to connect with local artisans and learn more about where their food comes from.

Heritage Acres, the venue for this year, holds a strong connection to the rich farming history of the Saanich Peninsula that reinforces the importance of local agriculture through its collection of old tractors, steam engines and farming equipment, sparking curiosity in those who are eager to explore the inner workings of the food and agriculture industry.

As a fundraising event, Feast of Fields will also offer guests the opportunity to purchase souvenir cedar plates, raffle tickets to win “foodie dream vacations” and a silent auction filled with exciting prizes. It is no doubt worth mentioning that the festival will be taking donations too, all of which will help continue to raise funds that support sustainable and equitable local food systems.
