Victoria's plant-based dining scene may be modest in size, but it goes well above its weight in creativity and flavour. From dedicated vegan restaurants and eateries to traditional restaurants embracing plant-forward dishes and offerings, the city's culinary landscape offers a vibrant selection of vegan delights. Beyond the dedicated vegan establishments, many of Victoria's beloved restaurants have thoughtfully crafted plant-based offerings to accommodate dietary restrictions and preferences. Here's our guide to the local favourites that keep Victoria's vegans (and plenty of non-vegans) coming back for more.
A renowned and popular vegetarian restaurant, Rebar is situated in the heart of downtown in Bastion Square, a short distance from the Inner Harbour. Since 1988, Rebar has been one of Victoria’s favourite restaurants and juice bars, featuring fresh, healthy, and predominantly vegetarian fare. It has been voted in the best vegan/vegetarian restaurant category in the Tasting Victoria restaurant awards every year.
Our Pick: Almond burger
Address: 50 Bastion Square
Nourish first moved into its 133-year-old heritage home in James Bay in 2015. Since then, it’s been one of the flagship restaurants for plant-based Victoria locals and visitors—which is why it’s no surprise it’s made our top three. Every dish and drink at Nourish is served with an exceptional combination of fresh ingredients and flavours, made strictly with plant-based ingredients, and delicious for anyone.
